Burnley boss Sean Dyche quizzed on future of Middlesbrough-linked Ben Gibson

The defender has been strongly linked with a return to the Riverside this month.

But Dyche, speaking after their 2-1 win over Leicester City, was asked if an approach had been made for Gibson, to which he replied: "No, not that I know of."

When asked about possible exits this month, Dyche added: “First of all it is football thinking and we want a squad that can cover every position.

"Of course there will be a business angle as well and if the business angle is correct for the football club then we make decisions, if not then there is no decision to make."

Gibson, who is the nephew of Boro chairman Steve Gibson, was reportedly at Rockliffe last week, which inevitably led to speculation about the defender’s future.

“His uncle is the chairman, it's his, he can come in whenever he wants,” said Woodgate.

"It's the chairman's nephew, its nothing to do with me."

The Boro boss was then asked if he'd like to re-sign Gibson if a deal was possible, to which he replied: "There's two more weeks to go, let's see what happens.”

Woodgate did confirm Boro are looking to make one or two more signings this month.
