Middlesbrough transfer latest as Leeds United consider shock move for La Liga-linked striker, West Brom eye free agent deal

Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock is anticipating a busy summer as preparations for the 2021/22 Championship season get underway.

Boro travel to newly-relegated Fulham on the opening day of the campaign in August, and hope a positive start can be the catalyst for a promotion charge.

But before the season begins at Craven Cottage, Warnock is facing a hectic transfer window as he looks to add six or seven players to his squad.

The Teesside club’s only new recruit so far is goalkeeper Joe Lumley from QPR but Warnock is confident more will arrive soon when players officially become free agents.

Speaking to talkSPORT earlier this week, Warnock said: “We’ve got the keeper in - Joe Lumley from QPR. I’ve always rated the lad and I’m looking forward to working with him.

“We’re talking to five, six, seven agents and players to try and get some movement.

“I think everything happens in that first week in July really though, when the contracts are up and the players have to start making decisions.

“That’s when all the movement will be I think.

“But I’m quite happy so far with how our recruitment is going and I’m hoping in the next couple of weeks that we will have a number of new faces.”
