Neil Warnock’s men are flying high in the table after a solid start to the campaign, and currently occupy the final Championship play-off spot.

The Bees came within 90 minutes of being promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their history last season, but have been slower out of the blocks this term, and sit 10th in the table.

A win at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday would allow them to leapfrog Boro, however.

Both teams come into this one off the back of draws in midweek, with Middlesbrough being held to a stalemate by Blackburn Rovers, and their hosts grinding out a valuable point against early promotion contenders Swansea City.

But Prutton expects Thomas Frank’s side to go one better in their next outing.

Writing for Sky Sports, the pundit said: “We often focus on Brentford's attacking talent and probably ignore at times how good they were defensively last season.

"There is no doubt they need to tighten up at the back.

“Middlesbrough and goals do not really go hand in hand this season, but I would like to think there will be goals in this one.

"I will back Brentford to edge it.”

Prutton predicts a 2-1 win for the Bees.

Middlesbrough have lost their last three matches against Brentford, with the most recent being a late 3-2 defeat in February of this year.
