After falling behind to an Isaac Mbenza free-kick inside nine minutes, an excellent strike from Duncan Watmore and an Ashley Fletcher penalty saw Boro take the lead before half-time.

The match had plenty of talking points as Paddy McNair received a straight red card for a tackle on Juninho Bacuna nine minutes from time, a decision which left Boro boss Neil Warnock furious.

Here’s how some fans reacted after the match:

@tom_mcgarry17: How good was Grant Hall tonight? First start in forever and a player that has had a horrific time with injuries, I wasn’t expecting a performance like that, superb all night long

@MABrecksy: A much needed win. A solid performance from both teams IMO, was a harsh red card for McNair but he shouldn’t have gone in like that. What a goal from Watmore, he’s got to be starting from now on.

@NatCoomber: Never a red card should get overturned. All about Watmore’s goal though

@cbstar82: Watmore's goal was superb and sparked us into life! Him and Hall were great, maybe Hall’s best game so far! Fletcher, so pleased for him! Hope gets a new deal! Much needed confidence booster for Reading!

@thomas_dickson9: Absolutely love to see that. Watmore what a performance lad. Never a red mind

@Matt_Rowney: That first-half performance after they'd scored is the best I've seen us in ages. Then the defence hung on at the end despite the best efforts of both Huddersfield’s attackers, and the EFL's officials. Not today @EFL. Not today.

@LewisThompson7: Back three makes us more solid and much better going forward, McNair can drive out, as the wing-backs occupy the wide areas, Watmore and Kebano can float around.

@InfinityTees: Huge, needed that. Shame about McNair.

@ryanallison041: Watmore was good in the first half but died out in the second. Kebano looked very dangerous,Fletcher looked up to it and played well but it has to be Hall for MOTM, he didn’t put a foot wrong and he was solid at the back

@BoroBreaking: Grant Hall MOTM closely followed by Watmore
