Fletcher, who was Boro’s top scorer last season, has been sidelined since September after suffering a hamstring issue during Boro’s 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.
Howson has also been recovering after injuring his hamstring against Preston in December but could play a part in Boro’s FA Cup game at Brentford on January 9.

"I thought we needed three or four but I don’t think we do now,” said Warnock when asked about potential signings.
"I can see Fletch coming back in, looking at him yesterday in training he looked really strong so he is starting like a pre-season this week.
When asked when Fletcher will be available for selection again, Warnock replied: “Probably two to three weeks I think looking at him yesterday.

Boro will face two away games against Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe this week, before the cup game against Brentford.
On Howson, Warnock added: “Jonny is busting a gut to get back, it’s the physios who are trying to hold him back so it wouldn’t surprise me to see Jonny available for possibly part of the cup game.
“The next two games will be the squad that will play tomorrow night.”
