Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock has said he wants to sign eight or nine new players this summer, yet he’s also claimed he won’t spend ‘stupid money’ in the current climate.
Boro made three permanent signings last summer as Grant Hall, Sam Morsy and Chuba Akpom joined the Teessiders, while Duncan Watmore, Jordan Archer, Darnell Fisher and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing arrived later in the campaign.
Several players, including Aynsley Pears, Tomas Mejias, George Friend, Adam Clayton, Daniel Ayala, Ryan Shotton and Rudy Gestede, have also left the club in the last 12 months.
