Hartlepool-born Morris, with over 30 England youth caps to his name, has been selected in the side that travels to Dusseldorf for the friendly on Sunday.

John Peacock will take charge of the side that takes on the Germans, with newly-appointed head coach Sean O’Discroll not taking charge until the October European Championship qualifiers.

O’Discroll has replaced Noel Blake who stepped down.

Morris - whose has worn the captain’s armband in all but one of his international appearances - will face Belarus, Luxembourg and Belgium in the first round of qualifying in October.

The first round will take place in Luxembourg and Morris is likely to be joined in the squad by his Boro team-mate Bradley Fewster.
