The Teessiders claimed a 4-3 win over Shrewsbury in the Carabao Cup first round last week, yet Warnock has more options at Vicarage Road.

George Saville and Paddy McNair have both returned to the starting XI after representing Northern Ireland over the international break.

New signing Marcus Bettinelli is also set to make his debut in goal, while Dejan Stojanovic hasn’t been included in the squad.

Dael Fry and Lewis Wing have both dropped to the bench.

Here’s how some supporters reacted on social media:

@boro74: Bench still looks weak hope we don’t go behind with 4 of the 6 outfield players being defenders #UTB

@JoeStewart1989: Has Fry been found out by Warnock very interesting

@seidler_chris: Fry benched, Stojanovic completely out. Not sure it's the right game to throw in a keeper who's been here 1 day or so.

@BoroArmy86: Decent 11. Definitely need additions though ... that bench

@steven_metcalfe: Strong starting 11. The lack of no back up forward is a massive concern. Wrap Britt and Fletcher up in cotton wool

@HairyTraveller1: What formation ? McNair,howson,Tav and sav,in a midfield 4 would be best

@J6BLA: Much prefer Paddy in midfield tho

@rikky_pink: Good to see Fry on the bench after the cup game.

@sonof_wenger: This looks like a 5-3-2. Why not go with a 4-3-3 with Browne and Tavernier either side of Fletcher. Then how Saville, Howson & Wing in MF. Spence & Johnson FBs with Fry & Hall at CB.
