Nathan Wood and Patrick Roberts have come into the starting XI following Sunday’s 1-0 defeat by Blackburn, replacing the injured Dael Fry and Marcus Tavernier.

Roberts’ recall prompted lots of reaction, given the Manchester City loanee has started just three league games since returning to the Riverside in October.

@tom_mcgarry17: Fry, Tav & Virgil are massive losses but it presents massive opportunities for those coming in who need to be right at it, especially Roberts. Pleasing to see Hall named in the squad

@RobSc0tt: Really hoping for the chance to rave about Patrick Roberts as if I haven't spent the past few months writing him off

@ThomasPeacock_: Big night for Spence after the weekend’s performance needs to sort it out, and for Roberts as well

@SamuelJHills: Big chance for Roberts to make a statement tonight. No questioning the lad’s natural ability, he has the potential to tear the league apart. Tonight he just has to show that

@GBallantyne7: Need a big game from Wood and Roberts today

@TaiIs83: Big chance for Roberts tonight. Hope he takes it.

@Tyler_Boro: Hopefully Wood plays well today really want to see him do well

@minimalist2020: If Roberts can’t do it in this game, he has to be sent back immediately. Might as well be sticking an academy kid on the bench
