Nottingham Forest struck late to prevent Middlesbrough moving out of the Championship relegation zone – and fans were quick to react.

Boro boss Jonathan Woodgate insisted the officials were wrong to allow Lewis Grabban’s 87th-minute equaliser, claiming the Forest man should have been penalised for a foul on goalkeeper Aynsley Pears.

Some Boro fans agreed with their head coach, while others felt the stopper should have been stronger.

Here are some of the responses from social media:

@LeeHall1977: Deserved a win. Unlucky lads. On to Charlton. Keep the faith #utb

@uptheborofm: Terrible referring cost us the win, how is that not a foul on Pears #UTB

@jamiedho: So disappointing. We self destruct again after working so hard to get into a winning position. Time to drop Pears too I think.

@ppnd84: Very frustrating, but if anyone had offered me a point before the game, I'd have bitten their hands off. Really got to get something on Saturday now.

@grahamb2105: Definitely onside but could’ve been a free kick but Pears let himself be bullied.

@subastral: Pears has to be stronger. At fault for both goals.

@glennkol: Play with that effort and industry every week please.

@BoroArmy86: Deserved the win, good performance. Take that into Charlton, Hull and Stoke. They are more important

@kingboroxi: Good performance bullet of a header from big man Gestede.

@ElizabethPound1: Coulson best player. Decent performance. Their goal shouldn't have stood, a clear foul as far as I'm concerned.
