From promotion to the Premier League in 2016 to relegation the following season, as well as everything which happened before and after, our Boro writer Joe Nicholson has put together his strongest starting XI by selecting players who represented the club between 2010-2019. Scroll down and flick though our picture gallery to see if you agree with his selections:
5. LB: George Friend
What a bargain! Friend signed for Boro from Doncaster for a paltry £100,000 in 2012. He has been an important figure both on and off the pitch since then and remains the club captain despite his recent injury setback. Photo: Tony Marshall
6. CM: Adam Clayton
One of Boro's standout performers during the Aitor Karanka era. Has dropped out of the side on a couple of occasions since then before winning his place back. Photo: Gareth Copley
7. CM: Grant Leadbitter
After signing from Ipswich on a free transfer, Leadbitter spent six and a half years at Boro before returning to his boyhood club Sunderland in January. His leadership qualities and all round game helped build the core of Aitor Karanka's side. Photo: Stu Forster
8. RW: Albert Adomah
After signing for Boro under Tony Mowbray, Adomah was the side's main source of goals at the Riverside. Under Karanka, the wideman improved his all-round and was a regular starter on the flank. Photo: Richard Sellers
