Hall, 28, penned a three-year deal at the Riverside last week after his contract at QPR expired, and briefly worked with Warnock during his time at Rangers.

The Brighton-born centre-back joined QPR in 2015 after a short spell at Tottenham and felt he needed a new challenge at this stage of his career.

When asked what attracted him to Boro during a video call via Zoom, Hall said: ”Neil Warnock was a major factor and played a massive part, I’ve worked with him before at QPR, only for a brief spell, but I saw what he was about then and his record speaks for itself.

“For me I have an ambition to play in the Premier League and I feel he’s someone who can take this club back to where it needs to be.

“It’s a massive club, Middlesbrough. It has all the facilities and has Premier League written all over it with the hotel. I've stayed there a few times when I’ve played here.

“When I was at Spurs I had those facilities but when I was at QPR it was a little bit different. It’s really nice.

Hall spoke to Warnock over the phone before agreeing to join Boro and said he was quickly convinced to join the Teessiders.

“He said he’s not coming here to finish mid-table, that’s what he said to me,” replied Hall when asked about Warnock.

“He wants to go for promotion and every club he’s come into that’s what he’s done so when I thought about it it was a no brainer.

When asked what he can bring to Boro, Hall added: “Leadership, I was captain at QPR last season and that responsibility helped me.

"I’m very comfortable on the ball, that’s probably my main asset and I don’t mind putting my body on the line defending, I will always give 110 per cent.”
