Warnock had said he wanted to arrange more warm-up matches this summer, and the game against Newcastle is set to be played before Boro’s Carabao Cup first round against Shrewsbury.

That match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 5.

Due to the current pandemic and the Government guidelines around it, spectators will not be able to attend the Newcastle match which will be played behind closed doors.

The two sides met at United's Benton training ground for a friendly in June, with the Magpies winning 3-2.
