Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate provides positive injury update after Celtic friendly
The experienced pair stepped up their recoveries from injury after coming through a 1-1 friendly draw with Celtic on Tuesday afternoon.
Friend, 32, and Shotton, 31, have both played for the club’s under-23 side in recent weeks and clocked up 90 and 60 minutes respectively against the Celts.

Hide AdHead coach Jonathan Woodgate watched 50 minutes of the game at Rockliffe before travelling to Wigan for the first-team’s Championship fixture.
When asked about Friend and Shotton after the game at the DW Stadium, Woodgate said: "Yes good, Shotts played 60 and George played 90 so that's really pleasing. I watched the first 50 minutes of it."So I'm pleased with them and they are back in the group now. They will be available, they are in contention for the weekend.”
