Fry was replaced with two minutes to go as Warnock was forced to reshuffle his defence in the closing stages of the match.

The 23-year-old centre-back had just returned to the side after suffering a nasty cut below his eye against Blackburn last weekend and was excellent at Carrow Road.

When asked about Fry after the match, Warnock said he’s hopeful the issue isn’t serious, while the Boro boss also hopes to have right-back Anfernee Dijksteel available again soon.

“His calf was just stiff,” said Warnock when explaining Fry’s withdrawal. “We don’t want to risk that for weeks to come. You saw how important he was today.

“Dijksteel hopefully will do a bit of light training next week, the quicker these lads are back the better.”
