There are now six points between Boro and the automatic promotion places after Swansea move into the top two with a 2-0 win at QPR.

The Swans moved ahead of Bournemouth, whose game against Millwall was also postponed.

Elsewhere, Brentford climbed to fourth after coming from behind to win 3-2 at Cardiff.

Boro’s next opponents, Sheffield Wednesday, were held to 1-1 draw at Blackburn despite taking a first-half lead.
