Boro are yet to announce whether Neil Warnock will stay on as manager for the 2020/21 campaign, yet the 71-year-old has discussed potential transfer targets with the club’s recruitment team.

According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, one of those players is Wigan frontman Moore, and talks have already taken place about a potential move to the Riverside.

The towering forward, 27, is a man in demand, though, especially as Wigan look set to be relegated from the Championship.

It’s also been reported QPR and Millwall have seen bids accepted for the 6 ft 5 striker, who scored 10 Championship goals in 36 appearances for the Latics this season.

Another player who has been linked with Boro over the last few days is Shrewsbury Town midfielder Josh Laurent, who is out of contract this summer.

The 25-year-old was reportedly on the Teessiders’ radar back in January, so whether there is still genuine interest remains to be seen.

Despite claims that Stoke, Reading, Cardiff and Boro are all interested in Laurent, Shrewsbury are said to be hopeful of seeing off Championship competition, according to The Shropshire Star.

Meanwhile, the Reading Chronicle have reported the Royals are ‘locked in talks’ with Laurent, who could be a replacement for playmaker John Swift next season.

Swift is expected to leave the Madejski Stadium and has been linked with a move to Aston Villa and Sheffield United in recent weeks.

Finally, young Boro goalkeeper Sol Brynn has signed a three-year deal, with an optional fourth year, at the Riverside.

The 19-year-old, who joined the club’s academy in 2009, signed his first professional contract in November 2017 alongside fellow Teessider Stephen Walker.

Brynn has played consistently for Boro’s under-23 side this season and has regularly travelled with the first-team squad.

The young stopper took to Twitter after Thursday’s news, posting: “Delighted to have signed a new long term contract with @Boro.”
