Boro tried to sign the 31-year-old on loan from Everton in October but a deal couldn’t be completed in time.

When asked about the winger earlier this month, Boro boss Neil Warnock said he hadn’t spoken to Bolasie for weeks, suggesting a deal was unlikely to be revived.

According to Turkish journalist Ertan Suzgun, there are other teams from Europe who want to sign Bolasie before the end of the month.

Manager reacts to Gnanduillet signing

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson says there was a lot of interest in striker Armand Gnanduillet before he joined the SPL club.

The 28-year-old frontman, who was a free agent after leaving Turkish side Altay in December, penned an 18-month contract at Tynecastle this week.

Boro were loosely linked with Gnanduillet back in the summer while several other EFL clubs were credited with interest.

"There was a lot of interest in him elsewhere from some big clubs so to get him signed up is a bit of coup,” Neilson told Hearts’ club website.

Boro youngsters beaten at Stoke

Finally, Boro’s under-23 side were beaten 2-0 by Stoke this week.

Graeme Lee's side were without striker Rumarn Burrell, who recently joined Bradford on loan, and Hayden Hackney who has been part of the first-team squad.
