Middlesbrough FC news and transfer rumours: Two strikers linked as youngsters sign professional deals

Middlesbrough are one of several Championship clubs who have been linked with former Blackpool striker Armand Gnanduillet.

The 28-year-old is a free agent after leaving Turkish Second Division side Altay SK last month and is reportedly keen on a return to England.

According to Football Insider, Boro, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and and Rotherham are batting to sign the forward who scored 18 goals in 36 matches for Blackpool last season.

Boro were linked with Gnanduillet in the summer before he moved to Turkey.

Diedhiou latest

Another striker who is reportedly on Boro’s radar is Bristol City frontman Famara Diedhiou.

The 28-year-old will see his Robins contract expire at the end of the season and is yet to agree a new deal despite discussions taking place.

City boss Dean Holden has confirmed the club have received enquiries for some of his players yet there haven’t been any concrete offers.

According to Bristol Live, Boro are one of the clubs who have asked about Diedhiou. who has finished the Robins’ top scorer for the past two seasons.

Youngsters sign professional deals

Finally, Boro scholars Josh Coburn and Jack Stott have signed their first professional contracts with the club.

Academy manager Craig Liddle told the club’s website: “Josh joined us from Sunderland at U16 level. He’s six-foot three, has an eye for goal, and has had an impressive 18 months. He’s really developed well physically and technically.

“Jack is a Middlesbrough lad who has been with us since the age of seven. He has progressed well through the age groups and has had a fantastic start to his scholarship."
