It’s clear the club would be keen to bring Gibson, 27, back to the Riverside, especially as the player has fallen out with current club Burnley.
Gibson, who has two years left on his contract at Turf Moor, trained with Boro last season, yet Burnley would still need to pay a significant part of the player’s wages if he returned to Teesside.
Recently-relegated Norwich City, who have more funds due to Premier League parachute payments, have been credited with interest in Gibson, while Nottingham Forest have also been linked with the defender.

It’s since been reported by the Daily Mail that talks are ongoing between Burnley and Forest regarding Worrall, and that Burnley are willing to offer Gibson plus £4million for the 23-year-old.

Finally, striker Lyndon Dykes has completed his move from Livingston to QPR on an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old has been linked with Boro for some time, yet it may have been a case of old rumours resurfacing.
