Middlesbrough FC transfer rumours: Reported target to be offered new deal as striker interest resurfaces
Boro are one of the clubs who have been credited with interest in the 23-year-old, while Derby County and Stoke City have also been linked with the frontman.
Recent reports claimed that Boro assistant Robbie Keane went to watch Cosgrove in Aberdeen’s 2-2 draw with Rangers, yet the Teessiders’ interest appears to have cooled since then.

The Dons are also keen to extend Cosgrove’s contract at Pittodrie, even though his current deal runs until 2022.
“We would like to extend Sam’s contract,” said McInnes.
“Whether we can do it or not remains to be seen. But we’re hopeful that we can extend it.”
Another striker who has been linked with Boro in recent months is Peterborough’s Ivan Toney.

Several Championship sides were reportedly tracking Toney in the summer while Premier League clubs Bournemouth and Burnley are now reportedly keen.
Earlier this week Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony was asked about speculation linking the striker with Boro on Twitter, to which he replied: "They love him, that’s for sure. But sometimes what you love isn’t what you can afford. Great result at weekend pal, well done & good luck for season."
