Middlesbrough get the all-clear after latest round of testing ahead of Swansea City clash

Middlesbrough have revealed they returned no positive results following the latest round of coronavirus testing, ahead of the visit of Swansea City on Saturday.

The Championship resumes this weekend following a three-month break but we’re at the stage now were some teams could be missing key players if they test positive as they will have to self-isolate in line with the Government guidelines.

Boro, however, have been given a boost ahead of the 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday after it was confirmed they had no positive test results.

Elsewhere in the Championship there was a total of eight individuals that tested positive following more than 2,200 tests of players and backroom staff.

A Boro club statement read: “MFC can confirm that we returned no positive results from the latest round of testing.”

The EFL added: “The EFL can confirm that 2,213 players and club staff from the 24 Championship clubs were tested over the course of the past week with eight individuals testing positive from six clubs.

“Those players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities.

“The EFL can confirm that 254 players and club staff were tested from four League One clubs over the course of the past week with four individuals testing positive from two clubs.”

Meanwhile, in League Two, 174 players and club staff were tested from four League Two clubs over the course of the past week with no individuals testing positive.
