The win sees Boro keep the pace in the race for the play-offs, following an evening of midweek action that saw every side from 5th-10th pick up a win.
Speaking after the game, Warnock revealed his delight with the impact made by his substitutes - Yannick Bolasie, Marvin Johnson Duncan Watmore and George Saville - and claimed: "I thought all the subs made a difference, it’s nice to have those options on the bench.
“It’s a difficult pitch and they’ve changed style completely since the start of the season so we had a taste of that against Cardiff and I thought tonight was very similar.
"I thought we coped with that after another long throw, disaster. I thought we grew into the game then and deserved it in the second half.”
Next up, Boro travel to fourth placed Swansea City this weekend, in what should be a fiercely-contest clash between two well-matched sides.
