The Teessiders will still be without several first-team players, including Patrick Roberts (hamstring), Dael Fry (thigh), George Friend (hamstring) and Daniel Ayala (ankle).

Woodgate did say those players are making progress, though, with many expected to return before next weekend’s meeting with Swansea.

“Patrick and Dael will train Monday, likewise George” said Woodgate when asked about injuries. “Ayala is two to three weeks away. Britt will be back, Ashley Fletcher will be back so that's really good for us."

Woodgate also revealed Anfernee Dijksteel has suffered a recurrence of his knee injury.
