Boro are set to be without last season’s top scorer Ashley Fletcher until January, while club captain Britt Assombalonga is a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff with an adductor issue.

Warnock has said he’s interested in a couple of players who are currently without a club, yet there hasn’t been much progress over the last few days.

"There are one or two options, and one or two players have been mentioned and are on our radar but we’re not signing anybody at the minute.”

Warnock has also said any signings will depend on financial implications, as English clubs continue to play behind closed doors with reduced revenues.

“I think it’s opened eyes this Covid situation, to agents, to players, the financial aspects of the club aren’t there anymore,” added Warnock. “A lot of clubs can’t afford it anymore with no revenue coming in.

“I’ve not really pestered Steve (Gibson) even though I would have liked another couple of players because the squad is too small.

“I don’t think you can pester your owners if you have no money coming in.

“It’s one of those you have to roll your sleeves up and certain lads have to play a different position now and then but at least you’re playing.”
