Second tier clubs, including Middlesbrough, are set to return to action over the course of the next few days following over three months without action.

But Brentford, who face Fulham in a Saturday lunchtime kick-off, will be without French winger Bryan Mbeumo for their first fixtures after manager Thomas Frank confirmed he had tested positive for coronavirus.

Mbeumo was a surprise absentee from the Bees’ squad for the clash at Craven Cottage, and is now set to spend a period away from the squad as per the EFL’s guidelines following a positive test.

Boro do not have to face Brentford in their remaining Championship fixtures having already played the promotion-chasers twice before the season was paused.
