Sheffield Wednesday are said to be tracking Middlesbrough midfielder Lewis Wing.
The 26-year-old is set to return to Boro following a loan spell at Rotherham in the second half of last season but will face strong competition to get back into the first team on Teesside.
According to Yorkshire Live, Owls boss Darren Moore is desperate to bring in reinforcements to revamp his depleted first-team squad and is monitoring Wing’s situation.
Aneke reacts to Birmingham move
In terms of incomings, Boro are still looking to improve their attacking options ahead of next season.
The Teessiders were one of several clubs who had been linked with former striker Chuks Aneke yet the 27-year-old has instead signed for Birmingham where he’ll link up with former Charlton boss Lee Bowyer.
Aneke told the Blues website: “I am delighted to finally get it over the line. It’s a big club and a big challenge.
“It’s a massive Club and it’s in the Championship – that’s where I want to be. I want to test myself in the Championship and my old coach is here, so it lined up and I am ready to go.”
Wednesday’s asking price for Windass
Another forward who has been loosely linked with Boro is Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass.
Several clubs, including West Brom and Fulham, have also been credited with interest in the 27-year-old who scored nine Championship goals for Wednesday last season.
According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, Wednesday want £5million for Windass. Nixon goes on to say that Millwall and Birmingham keen on the player but not at that price.
