Middlesbrough are one of a host of clubs linked with signing a 27 times capped England international.

Phil Jones joined Manchester United back in 2011 for a £16.5m fee under legendary Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Since the Scot’s departure from Old Trafford, however, Jones’ fortunes have dipped somewhat.

The 28-year-old made just two Premier League appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season and is yet to get off the mark in the top-flight during this campaign.

Indeed, rumours linking the former Blackburn Rovers man with the Old Trafford exit door are rife, with Manchester United reportedly looking to reshape their squad once more.

That has lead to the bookies offering some interesting odds on Jones’ next destination, with Middlesbrough in the betting as 8/1 contenders.

SkyBet have Derby County as 5/2 favourites in a move which would see Jones link up with former United and England teammate Wayne Rooney.

Newcastle United (8/1), Burnley (6/1), Everton (6/1) and Liverpool (16/1) also feature.
