According to the Daily Record, Roberts’ former club Celtic have been alerted to the availability of the 23-year-old who is hopeful of gaining more first-team football.

Roberts impressed during a two-year loan spell at Celtic between 2016 and 2018.

Former League One striker becomes a free agent

Former Blackpool striker Armand Gnanduillet has become a free agent just four months after joining Turkish Second Division side Altay SK.

The 28-year-old was offered a new contract to remain at Bloomfield Road at the end of last season and was linked with several clubs, including Boro, before moving abroad.

It’s been reported by Turkish media outlets that Gnanduillet is keen to return to England.

Finally, Sheffield Wednesday coach Neil Thompson only found out on Monday night he would take charge of Tuesday's game against Boro, following Tony Pulis’ sacking at Hillsborough.

After the 2-1 win, Thompson said: “I spoke to the chairman last night and he told me to prepare the team for today.
