Danny Rose hasn't been given a squad number at Tottenham.

Rose, who has one year left on his contract, is surplus to requirements at Spurs and looked set to move abroad after he wasn’t given a squad number.

Yet his hopes of leaving England have been dashed following the end of the European transfer market.

According to Football London, there was interest from Porto but it never resulted in a firm offer.

Now the Championship looks to be Rose’s best choice while there is a chance Spurs could look to mutually end the player’s contract early.

Former Boro left-back linked with Watford

Elsewhere, Watford have been credited with interest in former Boro left-back Joe Bennett.

The 30-year-old has been a regular starter at Cardiff for the past four seasons and recently celebrated his 150th Bluebirds appearance.

Yet according to Sky Sports, Watford are interested in signing Bennett as they push for an automatic promotion spot.

Warford and Boro have both been linked with a loan move Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman recently, and a move for Bennett would suggest the Hornets are no longer interested in the Blues man.

Traore was a diamond says Karanka

Finally former Boro boss Aitor Karanka has been talking about when Adama Traore joined the club from Aston Villa in 2016, when Albert Adomah moved in the opposite direction.

Karanka told Spanish outlet Marca: "Victor Orta (sports director) and I knew Adama from his time at Barcelona but his signing for Middlesbrough seemed financially unviable. When we proposed to change Adomah for Adama they told me if I was crazy.

"Adomah was a proven winger who had been instrumental in the promotion and Adama was a kid. He came from not playing just for Aston Villa and had had some injuries. I took responsibility because I believed he was worth it and time has shown that I was not so misguided.”
