Middlesbrough set to miss out on international winger, Stoke City's £18m flop plots exit

Middlesbrough's push for the play-offs received another dent yesterday afternoon, as they lost further ground in the race for the top six, with their 1-1 draw with Watford being bettered by a number of sides above them winning their matches.

As things stand, Neil Warnock's side are in 10th place with just six matches to go, and a nine-point gap to bridge to make the play-off places.

Speaking after their draw with the Hornets, which saw Yannick Bolasie rescue his side a point late on, Warnock revealed that summer signing Sam Morsy will be out for the rest of the season, after he picked up an injury.

The Boro boss claimed: “He’s out for the season now, he’s done his medial ligament. We don’t know how bad it is yet but he’s out for the season so we have blow after blow on the injuries.

“That’s four first-team players and we had to put Hayden (Coulson) in midfield where he’s never played in his life.”

Next up, Boro travel to take on high-flying Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday afternoon, which could prove a tough test against a side which could, against all odds, make the play-offs this season.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Middlesbrough and the rest of the Championship, as the build-up to the action to this weekend's action begins:
