Middlesbrough suffer big transfer setbacks as Premier League clubs pull the plug on winger and striker deals

Boro had agreed a deal with a Premier League side to sign a winger on loan but the player’s manager has now changed his mind.

The Teessiders were also tracking a top-flight striker who they thought was available this month, yet that move has also fallen flat.

When asked about transfers ahead of Boro’s meeting with Rotherham at the Riverside, Warnock told BBC Tees: "I’m not close at all, the two lads I thought we had a great chance with last week, in the last 24 hours I’ve been told by both Premier League managers that they’re not letting them out.
