Middlesbrough to take step towards safety in entertaining clash with Cardiff City, reckons Sky pundit

Neil Warnock has had a positive impact at Middlesbrough.

Patrick Roberts’ late goal for Middlesbrough at Reading on Tuesday was huge as Neil Warnock’s side claimed all three points.

It was a massive step towards ensuring the team are in the Championship for the 2020/21 campaign.

Due to goal difference, Boro really only need one point from their final two matches to secure their place in the second tier, two points to officially confirm it.

Cardiff City travel to the Riverside this weekend with their own aspirations as they look to hold off Millwall and Welsh rivals Swansea City for a play-off place.

Warnock will be looking to get a positive result over his former side and Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes he will lead Middlesbrough to a draw in an entertaining fixture.

“Middlesbrough have moved to within a sniff of safety after looking in a bit of trouble not too long ago,” he said. “But that's what Neil Warnock does.

“Will he do any favours for his former side? I doubt it very much! That is simply not his way. The home side will give it a good go, and I think this is a draw.”

Since Warnock took over from Jonathan Woodgate, Boro have won three of six.
