The result leaves Neil Warnock' s side sitting in seventh place, just three points away from an all-important top-six finish, but games in hand for the likes of Reading and Bournemouth could see Boro fall further behind in the battle for Premier League football.
Speaking after last night's defeat, Warnock discussed his transfer plans with the Hartlepool Mail, as the January window enters its final few days. The 72-year-old revealed: "I’m not really looking at another centre-back because I don’t think (Anfernee) Dijksteel will be (out for) long and (Marc) Bola has shown he can play there as well at times on the left side."
"I would like another defender if I’m honest, someone who can fill in for Dijksteel, an out-and-out full-back. We’re just looking at three or four players really as things have changed really.”
Next up, Boro travel to take on Norwich City, in an eagerly-anticipated Saturday lunchtime kick-off.
