Middlesbrough without seven first-team players ahead of Leeds United clash

The Teessiders will definitely be without seven first-team players for the game at Elland Road, with Ryan Shotton (knee), Marcus Browne (hamstring), Darren Randolph (thigh) George Friend (thigh) and Rudy Gestede (hamstring) all out.

And Woodgate has also confirmed that right-back Anfernee Dijksteel is set for a knee operation which will sideline the defender for four weeks.

Midfielder Paddy McNair suffered a glute injury during Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Barnsley and is a doubt.

Britt Assombalonga also picked up an ankle issue in midweek but Woodgate is hopeful the striker will be available.

On Assombalonga, Woodgate said: “He didn’t train the last two days and he didn’t train today so I’ll have to see how he is.”

Boro will welcome back midfielder George Saville from suspension while Marvin Johnson is the seventh player who is definitely unavailable following his red card against Hull.
