Boro have been linked with several names over the last few days including Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman and Everton winger Yannick Bolasie.

Warnock remained coy on the latter following reports which emerged on Thursday claiming Boro are in talks with the 31-year-old.

When asked what Bolasie, who Warnock managed at Crystal Palace, would bring to the side, the Boro boss said: “Frustration, one minute you think he’s unbelievable and then the next minute you think he is a footballer.

“He’s a good lad but whether that will come off, there’s so many different deals at the moment, last night I was looking at six strikers because we haven’t got a clue what will happen today.

“I would like another one in but I can’t tell you at this moment who will be coming in. I’m sure we’ll try to get one in today because we need the numbers

“There are a couple of people who are out of contract who are interesting as well so maybe early next week I could get a couple of lads in.

“We can still get a striker in in the next week.”

Warnock said two weeks ago Boro had enquired about signing another centre-back but said that is no longer a priority.

He also said one or two players could leave the club before Friday’s deadline, with loan and permanent departures possible.

Goalkeeper Aynsley Pears has been strongly linked with a move to Blackburn, with Rovers looking to sign another stopper.
