Neil Warnock reacts as Marc Bola signs new long-term contract at Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough defender Marc Bola has become the latest player to sign a new contract at the club.

The 23-year-old left-back has become a first-team regular under Neil Warnock this season and started the side’s last 12 games in the Championship, contributing to seven clean sheets.

Bola who came through the ranks at Arsenal, signed for Boro in the summer of 2019 but initially struggled in the Championship and was loaned out to former club Blackpool in January.

The defender’s new deal will run until 2024 and comes after team-mates Jonny Howson, Anfernee Dijksteel, Paddy McNair, Isaiah Jones and Sam Folarin recently signed new contracts at the club.

Warnock told the club’s website: "I'm delighted once again, it's another player who I think's deserved a new contract.

"He's one of a number of players I see who are the long-term future of the club, and everyone here is delighted he's put pen to paper.”
