Neil Warnock reveals his decision to name new Middlesbrough captain
The club’s No9 wore the armband in pre-season and for the opening day victory against Shrewsbury Town in the Carabao Cup.
Warnock has now confirmed his role.
"I just felt Britt has the experience, and since I've been at the club he's had the passion and desire," Warnock said.
"He's always talking to the younger players and organising.

"Hopefully he can have the best season he's had in a long while.
"He's been outstanding since I've arrived with Fletch. They are fantastic to work with, they are on board with what I want to do and they know if I slack off I'll tell them straight because they have to be our first line of defence.
"I've been pleased with every aspect."
