Neil Warnock reveals major disappoint after Middlesbrough's late defeat at Hull City

Boro are the lowest scorers in the Championship with just 40 goals from 40 games and weren’t able to kill the game off against the Tigers.

After taking the lead through a Britt Assombalonga penalty, the visitors were pegged back after Herbie Kane equalised from a free-kick.

Boro looked the most likely side to score after that, yet Hull goalkeeper George Long didn’t have too much to do before Mallek Wilks lashed home a stoppage-time winner.

"I would have been disappointed coming here and drawing the game and we’ve ended up losing it,” said Warnock after the match.

"The concentration of one or two lads just went and it’s difficult, a lot of aspects of it.

"The winning goal I was disappointed with because after a free-kick we just went anywhere, you have to have a look around you and see how many Hull players are around you at the back post. Nobody there was talking

“We’ve got what we’ve got and have to get on with it. A little bit more coaching and we’ll try to get a result on Sunday.”

It’s a quick turnaround for Boro who face QPR at the Riverside in three days' time, and could be back in the bottom three before kick off.

The Teessiders are now just a point above the drop zone with six games to go, and Warnock knows his side will have to show more quality and composure to get out of trouble.

“It’s just the decision-making and the crossing was really terrible in the second half and we never put them under any sort of pressure because of our quality, not of theirs,” Warnock added.

“We’ve definitely got the players, no disrespect to Hull but I wouldn’t swap any of our players for any of theirs.

“But it’s just one of those things at this stage, you have to get points.”
