Browne marked his first league start of the campaign with a goal as Boro came from behind to win 3-1 at Wycombe and move up to seventh in the Championship table.

The Teessiders fell behind inside three minutes after an excellent strike from Uche Ikpeazu at Adams Park, before Browne headed Boro level on the 30-minute mark from a Paddy McNair corner.

When asked about Browne, who has just recovered from a hamstring injury, after the match, Warnock said: “He's just one of those, we wanted him to go, we were going to loan him out.

“He had a bit of an attitude around the training ground, a little bit arrogant at times. He came back and trained hard pre-season and did ever so well.

“I wanted to play him (in November) but he did his hamstring at the last minute.

“I just wanted to give him a chance. I thought it was an ideal time today because the way they play with that anchor midfield man.

“I love to see a corner goal. The smallest man on the pitch, it's movement and desire that gets you goals.”

Wycombe are bottom of the Championship after 23 games but showed plenty of fight during an even contest.

“I said to them before the game, I'd be proud to manage both teams because they give absolutely everything,” added Warnock.

“I want my lads to do the same, then the ability might show through. I thought my lads really worked their socks off.

“We knew what it was going to be like. If you come here, get on the bus and get three points it's job done because not many teams will fancy coming here.

“We've dominated certain games and ended up losing. Today I thought we had that bit more devilment.”
