Boro are preparing for a busy schedule of nine games in just 29 days, starting with today’s match against Norwich at the Riverside.

Roberts has made just two Championship appearances, against Bristol City and Coventry, this season after re-signing for the Teessiders on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

Boro’s medical team have been closely monitoring Roberts’ fitness, especially as the 23-year-old has suffered with hamstring injuries in the past.

It’s also clear that Warnock doesn’t want Roberts to be weighed down by defensive responsibilities, which explains the player’s absence from the starting XI in recent weeks.

"He's frustrated because he's not getting a game and quite rightly so,” said Warnock when asked about Roberts ahead of the Norwich fixture.

"I'm sure in the next nine games he'll be able to get his opportunity to put forward his case."
