Several names have been linked with the Teessiders over the last few weeks, while Warnock has admitted loan deals are the most likely before the deadline.
We’ve taken a closer look at some of the rumours which have been going around and the likelihood of them happening – scroll down and flick through our picture gallery to find out:
5. Jordan Jones (Rangers)
A player who has been linked with Boro since January after falling down the pecking order at Rangers. Yet the 25-year-old now looks like he has a part to play at Ibrox and has said he's happy at the club. Boro have also brought in Patrick Roberts which reduces the need for another playmaker. 6. Oskar Buur (Wolves)
The 22-year-old right-back has said he wants to leave Molineux to gain more first-team experience. Djed Spence has been Boro's first-choice option at right wing-back so far this season but does appear to lack competition. Even so, Marcus Tavernier did show he can operate in that role against Barnsley last time out. Photo: David Rogers
7. Ryan Yates (Nottingham Forest)
It was reported in one national paper last month that Boro were considering a move for the 22-year-old midfielder, yet those suggestions have since gone cold. The Teessiders are well stocked in the middle of the park and will surely want to prioritise other areas. Photo: Laurence Griffiths
8. Randell Williams (Exeter City)
The 23-year-old, who can play as a winger or a wing-back, has been strongly linked with a move to the Championship. Boro was mentioned as a potential destination, yet speculation has quietened, with Stoke, Barnsley and Preston among the clubs credited with interest. Photo: Dan Mullan
