Middlesbrough have finally completed the signing of Manchester City playmaker Patrick Roberts on a season-long loan – and fans were quick to react on social media.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the Riverside and became a popular figure with supporters on Teesside due to his qualities in the final third.

Roberts will be expected to go straight into the squad for Saturday’s Championship match against Reading after making 11 appearances for the club in all competitions last term.

Boro now have until 5pm on Friday to complete more signings from other English clubs, and have looked at signing another defender on loan ahead of the deadline.
