The Teessiders tried to sign Everton winger Yannick Bolasie in October, while West Brom playmaker Kamil Grosicki has also been linked with Boro after his move to Nottingham Forest collapsed.
Grosicki, 32, is away on international duty with Poland, when national team boss Jerzy Brzeczek was asked about the futures of Grosicki and forward Arek Milik.
“Arek Milik and Kamil Grosicki are very important players of this team, with an incredible quality,” said Brzeczek.

McNair back in action for Northern Ireland
There was some concern among Boro supporters when defender Paddy McNair hobbled off when playing for Northern Ireland last week.
The 25-year-old has been excellent this season, impressing for both club and country.
Northern Ireland were beaten in extra time by Slovakia during their European Championships play-off match on Thursday but were back in action on Sunday.

Hide AdMcNair played the full 90 minutes as Ian Baraclough’s side were beaten 2-1 in Austria in the Nations League.
Boro midfielder George Saville wasn’t involved in the match and has travelled home due to personal reasons.
Walker helps Dons beat Sunderland
Finally, Boro striker Stephen Walker helped loan club MK Dons beat Sunderland 2-1 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
The 20-year-old frontman was making his fifth appearance and third start for the Dons, who came from a goal down on Wearside.
