The Lilywhites are 15th in the Championship after scoring a late equaliser in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Wycombe.

Speaking to the club’s website, Neil said: “Neil Warnock’s teams have always been the same, they will be direct and in your face and they will make it difficult.

“It will be a competitive game and they have some good quality players carrying that game plan out. Neil deserves a lot of respect.”

“I know last year they struggled, but this year they have found their rhythm in the way they are playing, they have a good understanding of what they are doing and they have got some good quality players in there to do it."

He added: “They have the likes of Jonny Howson in the middle, who I worked with – he was terrific for me at Norwich – and we know we have a really tough game coming up.”

Youngster reacts to new deal

Middlesbrough winger Isaiah Jones has extended his contract at the Riverside until 2022.

The 21-year-old joined Boro from non-league side Tooting and Mitcham in 2019 and has gone on to impress for the club’s under-23 team in the Premier League 2, Division 2.

Jones took to Twitter after putting pen to paper, posting: “Delighted to sign a new deal at this fantastic club.

"Thank you to everyone @Boro, the coaching staff and the manager for believing in me and a special mention to my friends and family who’s always supported me along my journey.

"Let the hard work continue. #UTB”

Aldershot boss praises Boro keeper

Finally, Aldershot manager Danny Searle says he’s ‘buzzing’ that Boro goalkeeper Brad James has extended his loan deal at the club until the end of the season.

Searle told Shots TV: "We did a lot of work to get Brad in.

"I don't in a negotiating sense, but with our research. You've got to make sure you've got the right kind of person and character coming in.

"We knew whoever we signed would be coming in and going straight into the side against Notts County.

"We're buzzing to have him here for the year now."
