Boro boss Neil Warnock confirmed the news after his side’s 2-1 win over Rotherham, revealing the pair won’t train with the club for the final few weeks of the campaign.

Both strikers will be out of contract this summer, after costing the Teessiders over £20million in transfer fees during the 2017 transfer window.

Here’s how some fans reacted.

@AnthonyBraithw7: They came ,they saw ,the didn't scare any defenders but one scored one of our greatest goals ever and I was there

@Ironsid56037276: I have a feeling ’in my water’ 2021/22 season is going to be interesting #UTB

@Matt_Rowney: God knows how many millions in wages. Both leaving for free. Great business.

@GBallantyne7: Not much surprise really but Fletcher has been good for us shame with his injuries this year, but it's time to give players opportunities that will be here next year

@MichaelTG91: Disappointed in Fletcher, expected nothing less from Britt, he downed tools when Woodgate was still here and has been absent for 18 months. Fletcher however is so injury prone that it’s not a big loss if he goes or not.

@JayShaw180: £22 million worth of strikers shown the door just like that. Add throw in Gestede last summer and you get an idea of just how much of a complete shambles our recruitment has been over the last few years.

@tom_mcgarry17: Shame that it has ended sour but we massively overspent on the pair and if they do not want to be here then good riddance

@jess_dalts: We don’t know what’s been said or what goes on behind closed doors, knew Britt was on his way out but surprised at Fletcher. Oh well, let’s see what the summer brings…

@Ryan_H_S: Shame about Fletcher really thought he was coming good before his injury. Won't surprise me when he goes and plays well for whoever gets him next.

@jackydobson4: And good riddance, don’t want to be here then off you pop!

@jackallisonnn: £22million down the drain then. Well in lads
