The first month of the year can be a difficult time for clubs to improve their squads, yet the Teessiders have completed some good business in recent times. We’ve taken a look at the last four January transfer windows to rank Boro’s recent signings. Scroll down and flick through our picture gallery to see them:
5. Muhamed Besic (2018) - 8/10
The skilful midfielder made an immediate impact after signing on loan from Everton in 2018 and helped the Teessiders reach the play-offs. 8/10 Photo: Nathan Stirk
6. Adlene Guedioura (2017) - 4/10
Boro needed an attacking midfielder to bolster their options in the 2016/17 season. Guedioura's arrival was a little underwhelming and the midfielder struggled to make an impact at the Riverside. 4/10 Photo: Jordan Mansfield
7. Rudy Gestede (2017) - 4/10
We've seen flashes of what Gestede is capable of yet it's hard to justify the money Boro paid for the frontman in 2017. Since then, the 31-year-old has struggled with multiple injury setbacks. 4/10 Photo: Stu Forster
8. Patrick Bamford (2017) - 6/10
After a successful loan spell at Boro during the 2014/15 season, Bamford's second spell at the club wasn't quite as successful. In his only full season on Teesside the second time around, Bamford scored 11 league goals in 39 appearances. 6/10 Photo: Michael Steele
