The 29-year-old has missed Boro’s last four games with a hamstring issue after making an impressive start to his career on Teesside.

But despite a lack of options, Warnock doesn’t want to rush players back from injury too soon.

"Sam tells me that he’s fit but the physios don’t want me to rush,” Warnock told BBC Tees when asked about Morsy.

“I think we will decide late this afternoon, he’s going to have to do some sprinting and if he comes through alright I’ll put him on the bench, I’d rather have him on the bench than not.

On Hall, who picked up a calf issue earlier in the season, Warnock added: “Grant is a bit different, he’s had a really disappointing setback to his rehabilitation.

“He is seeing someone today and we’ll have more news on Monday but it’s a different injury to what he had, really innocuous, a nothing sort of injury.

“At first glance it might not be trivial so we’ll have more on Monday.

“It was the best he’s ever looked as well, he’d almost done like a pre-season, lost a little bit of weight and looked really sharp.”

Hall’s injury could provide an opportunity for teenage centre-back Nathan Wood, who made his league debut for Boro in a win over Nottingham Forest last month.

“It is a big disappointment but young Woodsy has to be ready now when we need him,” added Warnock “I have every confidence in him too.”
