Boro haven’t won for five matches and were beaten 2-1 by QPR last time out, when Neil Warnock admitted there are some players who don’t want to be at the club.

That is reflected by the make-up of Boro’s bench, which includes only five outfield players who don’t have any Championship appearances between them. They include: Williams Kokolo, Jack Robinson, Connor Malley, Hayden Hackney and Josh Coburn

Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher, who will both be out of contract this summer, haven’t been included in the squad and neither has Djed Spence.

Spence is one of the two players to drop out of the starting XI, along with Darnell Fisher, who picked up a knock against QPR, with Marvin Johnson and Chuba Akpom taking their places.

Hayden Coulson has also dropped out of the matchday squad.

Here’s how some Boro fans reacted to the team news on social media:

@Smithy_MFC84: Don't know what to make of that line up, but the bench I'm happy with. Hopefully we'll see them involved at some point, it's time to give youth a chance. As for the result, clearly don't want to lose, but just want to see a good, committed performance in the main. #Boro

@jacobdougla5: Assombalonga and Fletcher must have been shown the door

@tom_mcgarry17: NEMYARV STARTS. The look of that bench. Good riddance to Britt and Fletch

@JosephW36068541: Football manager when you forget to fill your bench out.

@savvery42: Our bench says a lotttt

@wanaldinho: Has half the squad gone on holiday? Bench is the youth academy, still good to see youth getting the opportunity to show what they can do if they are brought on and given the chance

@JackBeadle1: Guaranteed to see some of the young lads is a good thing

@Doy9509: Really glad Marv is getting another start after all this time! Hoping Fisher is injured and not part of the lack of effort/clique gang

@joshhollis: More than anything, the players *not* in this squad is definitely a message from Warnock
