Here, we look at some of the game’s other talking points worth reflecting on…

Sky Sports backlash

Last night’s fixture was the seventh time this season a Boro match has been moved from its original Saturday afternoon slot for TV purposes.

The official attendance at the Riverside was announced as 18,884, yet that figure included season card holders who didn’t attend.

Supporters in Red Faction let their feelings known in the first half, unveiling a banner which read: "Sky Sports forgetting fans since 1991."

Boro’s late woes

This wasn’t the first time Boro have been pegged back at the death this season, bringing into question their ability to close games out.

Forest are the third Championship team (following Luton and Derby) to score in the last five minutes to snatch a point against the Teessiders under Woodgate.

Digging a little deeper, the Teessiders have now dropped precious points on 10 occasions in the final 15 minutes of league fixtures.

Seven of those goals turned wins into draws, while three turned draws into losses. That’s a total of 17 points down the drain.

Gestede ends his drought

Rudy Gestede hasn’t been the most popular player at Boro since his arrival in January 2017.

Injuries have played a part in the frontman’s struggles, and the towering 31-year-old hadn’t scored at the Riverside for just over two years until last night.

Yet in the absence of Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher, Gestede gave Boro a different option as the side took a more direct approach.

Gestede’s contract at the Riverside is set to expire this summer, yet he may still have a big part to play in the relegation dogfight.
